Creating and sharing...

...the magic of a stitch

As a little girl, I was fascinated by the sewing tin - the random buttons; the packs of needles; the way a stitch could mend, decorate, fix together.

Whatever it is that I create, be it a puppet, personalised memory book or journal, a dress, bag or costume, I want it to last, and it is designed that way. When we have something special, something handmade with care, you can feel the love that went into it and it makes you want to look after it. There is a ‘life’ to that creation, and it goes on to develop its own meaning and story. As a maker, that is what I hope for, for everything I make. If it makes you smile when you use it, my work is done.

Lisa Green
Creative Textile Designer
As a textile artist with a passion for puppetry, I was fortunate to meet James Richardson, director of Angel Heart Theatre, in April 2010. I was invited to 'have a go' at creating leather costumes for two Inuit puppets, and several costumes, puppets and a set dressing later I was hooked. Since then I have created many more characters, sets and props for Angel Heart, and it brings me great joy to create works that are brought to life by talented puppeteers, and that are part of the magic that is live puppetry.

I hand-make a wide range of work for sale, including leather cuffs, silk and felt wall-hangings and framed pictures, purses and more, all with freehand machine embroidered
artwork. I currently sell studio direct but have sold work through the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and various galleries throughout Britain.

My work has featured in several magazines, and my work with was featured in Devon Life September 2012, and December 2010.

I am always happy to create commissions for theatre or gifts. Please feel free to email me at
